The lack of rom-coms

Stories like this make me wonder… what’s changed in society that rom-coms – as in romantic comedies – are no longer a significant part of American culture?

Superhero movies are indeed the ticket. They’re literally filming another Superman movie right here in Cleveland as I write this.

As an individual who loves to create and daydream I understand the draw to comic-based movie subjects. It’s a fantasy variant. But these movies tend to feature fear and violence an essential part of the plot line.

Again, this can be okay, or I think so at least. Many of the greatest stories in history intertwine fear and violence.

But if that’s all we focus on – especially with the sacrifice being topics involving romance and comedy – I can’t help but feel that something has really, really gone in the wrong direction, culturally.
